Lucius Miller Obituary

Lucius Ray Miller was born October 24, 1951 in Austin, Texas to James Robert Miller and Lucille Marshall.

He was called home on April 2, 2024 following a life filled with love from his family, friends, and loved ones.

At the age of seven, Lucius accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Rehoboth Primitive Baptist Church by the Late Pastor, Reverend R.D. Reese. He sang in the choir and served as the Sunday School Secretary; and, on occasion, contributed his handy-work when needed.

He attended East Austin's public schools and graduated from Albert Sidney Johnston High School in 1971 before working for Southwestern Bell as an electrician. He then earned a degree in Electronic Technology from Southwest School of Electronics and retired from the City of Austin as a power line electrician after 25+ years of service. During his retirement years, he fulfilled a role as "Handy Man Lu" where he served others in the community.

In June 1973 Lucius married Deanavoy Atkins, and to this union were born their three children - Adrian Dewayne Miller, Kitia Monique Miller, and Deirdre Me'chon Atkins. He later fathered his youngest daughter, Kaytlon Nicole Miller.

Lucius was a family man and loved spending quality time together. He was devoted to sharing his wisdom, advice, insight, and the love of God with all of his children. Lucius was a very smart, passionate, and people person who could touch everyone he met. He was also a talented guitarist and singer, which through his talents, touched many throughout his life!

He was preceded in death by his parents: James Robert Miller (father), Lucille Rogers Simpson (mother); and Kaiya Desarae Burke (granddaughter).

Left to cherish his memories are: (son) Adrian Dewayne Miller (Nikka); (three daughters) Kitia Monique Miller, Kaytlon Nicole Miller (Travis), Deirdre Me'chon Atkins; (six siblings) James R. Miller Jr., Glenn Miller, Howard E. Cook, Jonny Cook, (one favorite sister) Felisa Ann Wilson (Carnell), Anthony W. Cook; (uncle) Horace Nichols, (aunt) Bessie Hill (NJ); (nephew) Ru'zun Wilson (Kimani); (grand-children) Tierra, Tyrah, Briajah, Nadrian, Kirrah, Nazayha, Jakari, Amari, and  TJ; (great-grandchildren) Mehya, Samarey, Makinzey, Saharrah, Savannah, Kyrie, Alani; and a host of relatives, friends, and acquaintances, who were touched by his infectious personality, humor, passion, and love.

He will live in our hearts forever!
